Vic and Helen’s South Downs Marathon – update!

Vic completed the 27.4-mile trek — just over marathon distance — alongside his close friends Charlie, Charlotte and Joe, walking from Elsted to the Butser Loop.

Setting off at 8am, the group completed their walk in almost exactly ten hours, an impressive achievement given the scale of the challenge ahead of them. Helen, Vic’s wife, was there along the way to provide much-needed moral support, encouragement and a welcome boost when the going got tough. The route included some extremely challenging terrain, with the hills proving particularly brutal and testing everyone’s stamina and determination. To put the climb into perspective, the walk involved an elevation gain of 1,119 metres — higher than Mount Snowdon, which stands at 1,085 metres.

Thankfully, they suffered no major injuries, and they were all absolutely delighted to have completed this challenge together. It was a real test of determination, teamwork and resilience. Reaching the finish made every bit of effort worthwhile. Most importantly, the funds raised will go towards supporting the valuable work carried out by El Shaddai and making a real positive difference.
