Cricket World Cup Champions!

Congratulations to the England Over 70s Cricket Team on winning the Inaugural Over 70s World Cup Cricket Tournament against Australia on Sunday 11 August 2024 at Wormsley Cricket Ground. Our very own ‘Cricket John’ was chosen to be part of the Squad and also had the honour of being chosen as First Bowler for the England vs India game held on 30 July 2024 at Slough Cricket Ground.

Proudly lifting the Cup!

Well done and congratulations!

Sanjiv Shah, our Chairman, with ‘Cricket John’ Turton

The tournament, played over 2 weeks, included teams from Sri Lanka, India, Canada, Wales, New Zealand and Australia. Some great matches took place and made a fantastic day for both players and spectators alike.

El Shaddai Charitable Trust, along with Prostate Cancer UK, were chosen as the two charities supported by the tournament. We had a stall at many of the matches, which helped raise awareness of the work that we do, and gave us a great opportunity to speak to a lot of people, who were also very generous with donations – thank you!

We also had some help from this lovely Teddy Bear, who helped us raise a few pounds, by letting people guess his name.
