My name is John McCormack, the founder of the Skip2Bfit challenge, a family-run business that we started in 2003. Our son David presents workshops and my wife Joanne runs the office in Broadstairs in Kent. Joanne and myself have been visiting Goa for the last three years and whilst there, we saw a stall at the Anjuna market showing all the positive things the charity was doing and the amazing things the children were making in the school. This really impressed me and I wanted to do something for the charity so, with this in mind, I returned this year with lots of our counting skipping ropes for the children and ran a workshop to explain our programme and give the children the experience.
I have worked with children for many years and what stuck me was how polite the children were and grateful for myself and my wife to visit them. This year, I decided to take part in the Goa Marathon and ran a funding page, which raised another £300 for the school. This really gave me the motivation of running for the children so much and I came second in the Masters category and was the first foreigner over the line. The race was brilliantly organised and I plan to do the same next year and hopefully raise money and, even better, try and get first!
Fun fact: we have presented in the Houses of Parliament and the European Parliament inspiring everyone to Skip2Bfit !
