Our Garswood Preloved Fashion Show was held on 1 December 2023 and raised £1000 on the night for Little Acorns. The event, not held since Covid struck, came back bigger and better and on no budget! All items were donated by a very generous community, held in a local venue given freely, decorated by a local event planner undertaken for free and lighting/sound etc done by a professional who lives in the village for the cost of a pint! The models (average age 75) ‘volunteer’ from the local Knit and Natter Group, were back with a bang, strutting their stuff and performing their walking frame version of the Can Can for the finale!
Refreshments were served at half time and clothes sold off at very competitive prices to ensure affordable for all. One hundred people , which is full to capacity, filled the room and enjoyed an evening full of fun, laughter, conversation, tea, cake and a raffle. All were keen to show their support for the El Shaddai children thousands of miles away, who they will never meet.
A rolling slideshow of our photos from visits to Goa were projected at the interval and helped the audience connect with El Shaddai and the work that the organisation does.
We are eternally grateful to everybody that took part in whatever way, with time, energy, money, donations, furniture shifting, cleaning, offering skills, transporting 100 coat hangers donated by Sainsburys, even sourcing professional dancing outfits! There is nothing this Merseyside village can’t help with and always does.
All remaining clothing is sold on well-known auction sites over the coming year to continue supporting the Charity as we do every year.
