Grants from El Shaddai Charitable Trust to our partner charity in India support a wide range of community outreach projects and activities in Goa’s slums.
Day Care Shelters
El Shaddai India runs three day care shelters which are located across Goa. The children from street slums can walk into the shelters at any time of the day between 9am and 6pm to access the various facilities which these shelters offer. The day begins with informal nursery classes followed by a nutritious meal, after which extra academic tuition is provided for formal scholars. Alongside these activities, field workers conduct slum schools, community health camps and deliver a daily meals on wheels programme.
El Shaddai India is responsible for the operation of a range of community centres located in the larger slums across Goa. The main objective of these centres is to empower the local communities by offering adult and child vocational training classes, educational training workshops for women, periodic health and vaccination camps, welfare support, academic tuition and informal education for local children
The four community centres in current operation are Ashraya Community Centre in Birla slum, Tremara Community Centre in Chimbel slum, and Good News Centre and Albert’s Good News Centre in Moti Dongor slum.
