Full-Time Child Care
Grants from El Shaddai Charitable Trust to our partner charity in India support the provision of full-time child care.
El Shaddai India run a series of children’s residential homes for girls and boys of different age groups who come from a variety of deprived social backgrounds. The homes provide the children with a safe haven to grow up and develop into successful, productive adults. Within these homes, the children have set timetables, and are involved in a variety of group activities, giving them the best possible chance to develop a good sense of responsibility and excellent leadership skills.

NURTURE FOR TODAY, LEARN FOR TOMORROW, BUILD CHARACTER FOR ETERNITY’
All the children residing in El Shaddai’s residential homes attend school. Those who struggle academically or have been out of the school system for a number of years attend our specialised non-formal Shanti Niketan School, whilst others attend formal schools in the local area.
Shanti-Niketan School is an English medium school which caters to children of all ages. It offers an activity-based curriculum which facilitates individualised learning on different levels within one learning centre. The principal aim of the school is to provide the children with a basic education and the life-skills necessary to meet their needs and interests and enabling them to contribute within their own communities. The educational system is child centred, with a wide range of vocational classes on offer including physical education, music, dance, computer education, carpentry, tailoring and architecture.
At present the school is home to over 250 students, the overwhelming majority of whom are residents in El Shaddai’s residential homes. When the children are ready to take their national examinations, they are enrolled in the National Institute of Open Schooling after which they are able to join any regular college or higher educational institution.
